It may be butt-ugly, however:

1. it no longer shares the same space as my clothing
2. It's pretty much all mine (but don't tell my wife)
3. It sounds great!

I like it! It actually looks like a great little space. Just don't show people the outside...

Whatever works! I use a bunch of old quilts for soundproofing... looks like a deranged Granny was loosed in my booth!

... maybe a little "dust-b-gone" on that keyboard, though ... ahhh-choo! other than that - stuffed animals make great bass traps! ; )

Hey man, it's your little space... that's all that counts. Smile

It's the grey foam, multi TFT screened, nerd capsules that are ugly.

It has color, depth, truly a work of art in the sense of sculptural proportions... That's awesome! I don't feel so wrong side of the tracks anymore, but I believe I have you beat on the ugly side! If it works hey... it's all good!

About the Condo, do you think the big red and white one on ground level is the Club House.

Is there really a LOFT in that Rubbermaid storage container?

Yes, the rubbermaid box says "LOFT", a remnant of when we first moved into the house. While the box does not actually contain a loft, it was to indicate where the box belongs.

I should also note that the Computer is in a different room, so it's dead quiet in there!

Jeff,

Very cool. I like how it looks and quiet is good.

Actually that this the perfect recording environment. Lots of different angles and surfaces for the sound to be reflective and absorbed. I'm sure it sounds wonderful!

This reminds me of a show I once saw about people that collected all kinds of crap A.K.A. "Pack-rats". The camera and mic moved from a rather clear hallway that sounded ok, into a room that was stacked floor to ceiling with Sh!t and the audio just bloomed into this wonderful sound. The next day I lined one wall with floor to ceiling bookshelves and filled them with books and and my extensive collections of bright shinny objects. It sounds rather lovely if you ask me.

Closets if they're big enough are perfect! They're not shelves...they're bass traps! Those aren't coats, they're high frequency absorbers!

The irregularity in shape is key. A well treated closet sounds better than a boxy booth (especially a booth with control room glass)!!!

My DIY booth/closet sounds way better than a lot of pro booths I've worked in where the design emphasis has been on sound proofing rather than acoustic treatment. Plus, my closet/wee huttie(tm) has a totally respectable noise floor. 7x6x8, lots of shelves, large dense objects, Auralex, and Soundblankets.

The one thing that really made a difference though is Foam on the ceiling - hung down a touch and bowed so that it's not all touching the ceiling.

Jeffrey,
If the VO thing doesn't work out, you can always read palms and tell fortunes in that space.
