Has anyone ever had experience with selling a domain name? I know that the .us TDL isn't the best but I'm trying to see if it would be worth it to find a buyer, or develop it myself.
I had forgotten that I owned it until the first of the year when the registry fees came due.

Thanks for your replies

Don't have any experience myself, but you might find some info in this forum.

Whenever I debate whether to try to sell a couple of "extra" domains I have that just point to my main site, I usually end up just renewing for another year. When I really think about it, it costs me less than $10 to just keep it for another year, which give me another year to think about whether I want to try to sell it next year. Smile

I'd love to hear more about this! I've got a friend who is addicted to buying and selling domain names and I've often wondered if it's really that simple and profitable. I actually had someone approach me last year who informed me that they had bought septemberdayleach.com and would be happy to sell it to me for a nominal fee. I passed but I'm guessing they must've had some sort of success doing to with others before

I've bought & sold quite a few domain names. It's very rare to make a decent amount of $$ on one unless you happen to have one that somebody really wants.

Most of the ones I've sold, though, were actually gotten with the intent of developing something specific, often along with a handful of other domains that were possibles for the branding of the project. A few here and there were sold while the rest were just allowed to lapse.

Always do payment through escrow unless they're willing to pay in full in advance Smile

why not keep it? if it's not too expensive to keep, why not do like don does, just have it auto forward to your real domain. this way anyone who enters .COM or .NET or whatever will still be able to get to your site.

I already have one that points to my real domain. Too many and Google doesn't like it. I had purchased a couple of "voiceover" domains, and this one is a .cc I guess I'll list it and see what happens
Thanks
