|
|
From my BLOG, thought this important for Mac users to read!
Mac users be careful when installing the latest Mas OS Leopard update that was released on Tuesday. Users reporting issues with the update when you use the Auto Update feature in the Mac. If you feel the need to do this update for some reason, or you've already done the auto-update, please install the Apple Mac OS Combo Update.
It is a 668MB download, so don't do this when you are in the middle of your workday. Better yet, wait until the weekend, in case you need to do an emergency fix.
And, AS ALWAYS, BACKUP your computer first. Get an external hard drive (USB or Firewire) and use the free Carbon Copy Cloner to dupe your entire system so you can recover if needed. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

And here's a very good reason why you should backup...
Read this discussion thread on Apple's website about the havoc this new Apple Update is causing some Macbook Pro users. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

thanks, george - i passed it along to some mac friends of mine, too.
that said - i make it a practice of NOT running every update that comes along, unless i absolutely need ... something ... within the update. no need to live on the bleeding edge ... let the folks who have all day to play with their computers and post on blogs and forums figure out all the problems first ... _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Todd:
You know that is ALWAYS the prudent thing to do, especially for those with machines used for production (AKA MAKING A LIVING).
Unfortunately, the avg Mac users will drink any flavor koolaide Apple makes without question, so it can get messy.

Thank you for the post! I was about to pull the trigger on a Mac Mini. Think I'll wait a bit. |
