saw this on the bbc this morning, and half-expected it to be a story about mr. banks.
while i don't know if all the findings apply universally, it's still an interesting read. here's the link:

Interesting!
And OF COURSE the perfect voice is British!
Now....were those computer generated voices?...pretty good actually...

LOL on the Jwonathwon Woss voice being less likeable.
Speaking at a measured pace with real pauses between sentences and a falling cadence with well chosen pitch spikes is exactly how one ought to speak...and exactly the opposite of how America speaks today. It's not about accent, it's about the voice's song.
In any dialect, I find it very hard to balance a contemporary Everyman voice with likeability and trust. Today's Everyman is not a likeable character and drinks to much coffee. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Interesting, yes, but don't you think it would have been better to NOT use famous people for the study? No doubt some of the people involved recognized, consciously or sub-consciously, the celeb voices and automatically associated positively with them because of that recognition.
I'm sure this worked against some of the celebs as well, but probably to a much lesser degree.
I also noticed that the perfect female voice sounded vaguely familiar to Lara Croft from some of the Tomb Raider games _________________ Lou Zucaro
