I'm ever so close to buying a Studiobricks.
On a lark, I searched in my local Facebook Marketplace and came across a disassembled audiology booth for sale for $600. And they were only about a 20 minute drive from me.
Hmmmm.
A little dusty but nothing that couldn't be cleaned up.
A little big for my space but with some cutting here and there I could probably make it work.
The wife and I drove out to check it out and it was in an old horsebarn. The guy selling was super nice and basically we deduced that the unit was PROBABLY 30 years or more in age. He, being a trained audiologist got it from his college in 2005 so if the college was looking to offload it in 2005, chances are it was brand new as of 10 years before that.

Bottom line, it was a lot of heavy panels that would require a big ole Uhaul rental, multiple people helping and some real modifications to the space in which it would be installed (demo, anyone!?)
Plus, there was no definitive answer on whether it had lead paint on it.
$600, yeah. But at what cost, right?

PS...So apparently these (at least back in the day) were filled with chaulk for soundproofing.

Good thing you passed….it looks way to heavy to deal with amongst the other issues.

Yeah, it pretty much would have been great for soundproofing and VO recording but everything else....not so much.
