The new mic sounds a bit of alright to me.
By the by, Sennheiser makes a shotgun mic that is literally twice as long as the 416, made for those who like really big pickup trucks with really big tires.

Yes. Thank you for asking. Probably Chinese with Belgian components. |

I like this better than the TLM 102 on you in that room. More focused, and subsequently nicer highs and lows! _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

I wanted to share the mic name as "ATR42" but that was the name of the aircraft I flew in Nepal.
Soooooo
Take 2 - (looked at box) Audio-technica AT875R £143 + shockmount £12.96
= £155.96 BARGAIN!
In USD that's $195 delivered to my door, well, yours because I already have one and don't ....
Sorry, went WAY too far with... |

Indeed the mic is reasonably priced at $169 from many different suppliers, however if if if this is true, Amazon has a package deal with lots of useful extras for just $175!

There’s gotta be a catch?

It really does sound good on ya Philip; could be a backup if the U87 goes kaput. _________________ "What was that? An exhibition? We need emotional content." - Bruce Lee, Enter The Dragon |
