Hello all - and thank you for accepting my request to join you all here, Bruce.

At the end of high school (1978), I was lucky enough to fill-in at a Brampton, Ontario radio station while their overnight guy was snowed-in in Chicago. Following that, I was also lucky enough to land a few other smaller-market radio jobs. My favourite work was always reading scripts and editing/producing. After six years I left the business for other opportunities.

In 2016, I bumped into Bev Standing, through totally un-related circumstances. I followed some of her suggestions and that re-kindled my love of the microphone (and buttons, blinking LEDs, etc).

Recently, a tornado destroyed our home and thus, my studio (we're ok - and I do have a 9-5 job). We’re waiting for a timeline as to when we can return to it and I can rebuild my studio area. Until then, it’s ‘blanket forts’ for me at the breakfast table of our temporary apartment. You have to keep your chin up, right?

I look forward to reading and learning from your stories too, as well as the many posts that flow through this group…

Thank you again for accepting my request to join!

Sincerely,
Jamie Ramage

Oh, Jamie!

First: Great to see you here!
Second: I'm SO sorry about the tornado! But glad you're OK!

Sit back and enjoy the company. Smile

Thankfully, neither of us were home (I was actually glad my wife Elizabeth, was out shopping for once!).

I have read some of the posts (and the suggested 'read me first' posts) and think this is a gold mine of a place!

I thought I was having a bad day today, but a Canadian tornado tearing apart my house and studio? You win the awful story of the day prize. Thanks for sharing! Glad you’re here, safe and sound.

I truly wasn't after sympathy, but thank you for it. I just threw it in to explain 'where I'm at' lately (eg: the blanket forts, for shorter projects).

Thankfully, none of my equipment was damaged, btw..

Todd, I didn't realize that just clicking the 'reply' would keep me in the same string..(without having to do that whole "quote" thing). Now I see!

...and thank you for your words of welcome!

i was bitten by a full-post-quote as a child ... i'm a little sensitive to them.

Welcome- sorry about the tornado. Scary things (lived through one as a kid but it missed our house- that green sky is something you don't forget).
