The me-me-me crowd have been drooling over this for a while on Facebook.

Is this the shape of things to come? I really, really, hope not... but having a list of sponsors who support this drivel does actually give a handy-dandy reference for businesses to avoid.

For everyone who counters with, "It's just a bit of fun!"...
No, it's not... it is a cynical marketing device designed solely to take money from the pockets of hopeful (or bemused) talent. Each and every one of the listed sponsors expects a return on their investment.

Avoid this like the plague (you should all be well practiced at that by now). I mean... unless you are compelled to enter because you're a shoo-in for the Best Slate category (I kid you not).

Some of those people are friends and some of them are friends of this site, so I want to tread lightly….

What a pile of tawdry, salesy, shite that list looks like. We all gotta make a living, but ugh. Really?

Sadly, a significant portion of the population isn't even avoiding the plague like the plague.

I would posit that we aren't allowed to use this phrase any more. Because in real-world practice, people don't.

The new normal will now include such commonly uttered phrases as "embrace it like the plague," "you're on mute," and ... hmm. I ran out of steam after those two. Need more 85% dark chocolate.
