Man, that was weird. Canceling my ISDN lines after 16 years or so.
Now, if I can just find my demos on cassette, I can finally ditch those too.

I've never had "real" ISDN, but I can identify with that feeling of loss, and specifically a loss of security. Just recently I moved from high-tier consumer Internet to "business" Internet, and I hesitated for awhile before disconnecting the old internet. "But what if I need it?"
I think I have hoarding tendencies that will, one day, become full-blown reality-show grade. _________________ Jack Daniel

Bruce, I know that feeling. I shut mine down mid last year and the codec is sitting on a box on the floor of the closet. I have not missed it at all - and I don't think I've lost out on any opportunities because I don't have them anymore. (If I was doing promos, maybe I would have had regular clients needing to use the lines.)
The big box o' out-dated stuff is getting bigger...

EMBARRASSINGLY PERSONALLY REVEALING TRUE CONFESSIONS:
I have a storage unit hemorrhaging money, full of 1960/70's gear that was supposed to "get sold as vintage"...
(do the names AMPEX, GATES/HARRIS, ALTEC mean anything to you...)
not EVEN counting the Personal Memorabilia
(and Stuff That Don't Even Work) ...
YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE HERE, whatever Era you start at...
SELL!! LIQUIDATE!! NOW!! _________________ SoundscenesDC, main talent and production offices just 385k km up the gravity well in LuNoHoCo Center, old satellite studios still bookable at the future site of Johnson City! |

John, you don't want to see my boxes of connectors and adapters, which I routinely save "just to have them in case." I finally got rid of some of the old parallel port and VGA adapters but there are plenty of outmoded You Never Know items sitting in crates.
I would put your vintage tape gear on Reverb, old decks are being snapped up by mixers and hep cats... _________________ Jack Daniel
