No Instant Miracles!

Getting into any line of endeavor that takes a lot of well honed talent takes time and research and practice, practice, practice. I'm sorry newcomers, but like most of us you've got a lot of investigative work ahead of you before you can make a living at this voiceover "thing". It's a good start coming here. Lots of advice and commentary can be found here. But what about those very first steps?

This section of the VO-BB is meant to whet your appetite, or scare you into quitting early, your choice. As time goes on we'll list articles and sites that answer your most basic "how?" questions. Beyond that, that's up to you. Good luck!

Member Peter O'Connell has written a good pdf full of starting knowledge. He swears it's out of date, but things don't change THAT much in our business. Here you go:

Here's one of the most comprehensive sites I've seen on this subject.

Thanks Jen. Comprehensive is right! It's so thorough I haven't been able to review it all but what I've seen is great. I was looking for a hook where he can charge you fees and I'm not seeing any.... A GREAT PLUS for beginners.

There's so much one can do for free and cheap before considering laying out good money for quality training.

Here's another source of information. It comes through one of the talent agencies that represents me so even though I have no serious complaints with them, I'm looking for some kind of angle beyond their drumming up new voice talent clients.

More information to absorb: https://www.getstartedinvo.com/
