Within the last few hours I was Polarised. Not unfriended as the person was not a friend in the real sense of the word.
What happened? Eric, for tis his name, appeared on the WoVo rates panel with a number of other people. The talk was of Voice Coaches and demo producers. It is perfectly acceptable for anyone to do what the people involved did. Nothing written here is intended to suggest that Eric, for tis his name, and the others involved are anything other than delightful people.
I posted on Facetube a comment which was designed to get a laugh but also make a point. My point was not serious as every interested party is involved in Voice Over work which by its definition cannot be taken seriously. In essence we watched a number of TV Evangelists discuss the existence of God.
What went on during the rate discussion was a great starting point for a wider discussion. But, if everyone involved had an agenda then those wishing to express a view which could be perceived as contrary to the self-promoters had to be side-lined.
Do not Polarise people from your work or your life, it's personally, professionally and intellectually unhealthy. |

I am finding your videos:
a) bloody funny
b) always having a serious point that expands and explores possibilities that may not be top of mind for the majority of talent.
Every issue that is put out there from "a position of authority" needs a counterpoint... otherwise there is no discussion. The news media has been taken over by the PR industry... and the VO industry is in severe danger of simply becoming a feeding ground for people who want to make a living from VOs (as opposed to actually doing it.) At its best, this can be a symbiotic arrangement... at its worst, it's parasitic.
Maybe a panel discussing the merits of military intervention should consist of someone other than arms manufacturers and generals _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

For those on this board who find it difficult to decrypt Brit (as posed by Banksey and Bishy). it's simple:
Any discussion on any matter worth really discussing will always benefit from an outlier throwing a verbal grenade into the discussion room.
And for those who need translation into Spanish. Ser un "amaranavajas" no es de todo mal. Depende de la situacion - y claro la discusion. _________________ www.melissaeXelberth.com

It is, because some of the apples that have been there the longest become rotten and must be removed.
