VO-BB - 19 YEARS OLD!

Been using Source Connect Now with latest version of Chrome and things have been wonderful until about a week ago when Chrome became unstable and started to hang. Would trash it, download a new version and same thing, hang and had to force quit. It did not matter where I was browsing, it would hang at different times with the circus ball of death until you forced it to quit. Did a virus check which came up negative. Finally downloaded ver 37.0.2024.3 dev which is a beta version and everything is wonderful again. Except that I had a guest try to connect to SC Now using this same beta version of Chrome and they got the hang on their end...weird.

SC Now tech people scratching their collective noggins.

Any other Mac users experiencing Chrome browser hangs?

I think the new issue is going to be that you're using v37 beta and the remote is probably on v36. I'm using v36 beta no issues.... and if I remember rightly, when I installed the software, it needed to use "the latest" v36 beta to access the codec properly. Reinstalling 36.0.1985.49 may be the best route here.

I think the only stable way to work with Chrome is to have exactly the same version at both ends. Here's a probably totally unrelated observation... for about a week my Firefox has been beach-balling & having to force quit whenever I accessed facebook. I suspect a flash issue (but that's me guessing). Your original problem may have not been Chrome, but a plug-in getting updated... again, total guesswork, but my beach-balling started out of the blue as well.

I should note that I only use Chrome for SC Now and ipDTL... I don't even fire it up for anything else so I wouldn't have noticed any other issues.

Unfortunately this highlights a far more serious issue. Anyone who builds a business model on the capricious nature of Google is always going to run into problems. They will change, or even remove services as and when it suits them. (Yes, I am still bitter about the changes recently made to Google Voice which will remove functionality from my Obihai VOIP box).

As we used to say all the time back in the 70s... ten minutes after upgrading the mainframe "Fallback... fallback NOW!!!"
