I'm having to post this today because I need some way to just open up and, I suppose, grieve.

As voiceoverists, we have to work thru challenges such as difficult clients, external noises, badly written scripts, fighting off colds, ridiculous deadlines, etc.

But today I deal with the toughest thing I've ever had to do. I learned this morning that my best and longest-running friend passed away from brain cancer. I thought he was making a good recovery and then I got this news. I felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach.

And yet.... I must still sit here and, with a cheerful voice, narrate NPR underwriter spots, articles for Umano, technical videos and a nature documentary. All upbeat and with a smile in my voice. While inside I'm just aching.

Thanks for allowing me to share here. This is going to be a very difficult day. My best friend is gone.

I'm so sorry Scott, for your loss and the surprise kick in the gut nature of it.

My condolences Scott. My dad passed away from the same 5 years ago. It's frightening how quickly good news can turn to bad. Take care.

Man, Scott. I am super sorry about your loss, and I also feel your pain. A few years ago, my best friend since high school died, and it is an overloading shock to the system. You're in my prayers my friend.

Scott... Very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and the challenges you are facing. I've lost family members and friends over the years, and like you, the most difficult time is to return to work while the wounds of loss are still painful. I'll keep you and your friend's family in prayer.
