I have an old Roadrunner codec I don't use and a friend wants to buy it.
It is in good working order. I need some pricing input.....
Thanks

Codec boxes in good condition can indeed draw a pretty penny, but the Roadrunner, unfortunately, suffers from a sometimes ungodly fan noise, and, therefore, often must be located elsewhere than the studio, if you expect to actually work with it, thus the much lower used market values reported above.
Bill's story is reality. He waited two months to find a buyer..... at the low end of the range. Lee's is an honest deal, and George, who probably knows the market, as it's his business, has given you a decent idea of the range.
That said, you did say he was a friend..... AND you don't use it. So, to him, it's an opportunity..... And to you, it's found money. If it's been well cared for and has no issues, why not say to your friend.....
I hadn't really thought about it, but if I was to sell it to anyone else, it's worth X, but because it's you.....
Then make him a deal that's good for both of you. Win, win.... and likely with dividends in the long run.
