Let's see... those appear to be slices of a nut-log kind of confection around the berry end of the cake, so that's self explanatory. The berries appear to be dipped in used motor oil or licorice dip (let's hope it's the latter) and the berries rest on a bed of cedar chips as you'd find at the bottom of a gerbil cage. I think we can conclude that that particular Cris is very strangely thought of.

However our Cris is quite lovely and quite deserving of our heartiest Birthday wishes!
