I love my 416 but have to keep it close, crank the crap out of the gain (+40 for narrations, +30 for regular radio ads) AND the output(yay dbx 286!) and gate it as well(yay dbx 286!)— and I have a pretty quiet room.

I have it pointing at the bridge of my nose at about a 45° angle, 6 inches away.
I'll try that straight down approach! Everything seems to be different with this mic for girls, though.
