hmm....
10 years ago: was an out of work copywriter after the agency i worked for lost the account i worked on, and the new leadership decided to alienate the entire creative team so a few of us quit; a few VO gigs here and there; doing weekends and fill-ins at the station i had been working at forever; and living the single life.
today: creative services director for that same radio station i've been at forever; more VO gigs (but still not enough to quit radio); married to a great woman with 2 great kids.
man how things change. _________________ Jim Feldman

10 yrs ago: I was an 18 yr old freshman at a community college in Middletown, NY. I was a biology major, studying to be a chiropractor. VO? What?
Now: Repped by 5 agents and doing a boatload of auditions. Another Cisco corporate gig lined up and working hard to get more gigs. Married for 2yrs (July 15), no kids...yet. On my way to living the VO dream! _________________ Donovan

OK, everyone's voicing career seems to have progressed. Mine less so...
10 years ago I was doing a lot more of the big money stuff than I am now. Maybe there were fewer players, maybe it was a different system but these days although the work is still there the money isn't anywhere near as easy as it was.
Cheery, huh?

Changed days, changed days. I started voicing properly about 15 minutes after all that stopped.....sadly!!!! _________________ www.davidmonteath.com

I remember the days when a six figure income from voice over work in dollars would impress the average Brit......... Oh for the heady days of 2007. |

June 1998 I was the Program Director for WORD-FM and WPIT-AM in Pittsburgh, PA and picking up a pretty decent amount of side income doing voiceovers at various studios around Western PA. Our daughter, Karen, had just finished her sophomore year of High School. Eric had just completed 2nd grade, David was 2 and our youngest son, Brian was almost 9 months old. I was a few weeks away from becoming Must Join with SAG, when I booked my first union national TV campaign.
Today, I'm the Senior Producer for Radio at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, coming up on 7 years with the organization. These days I make a more than decent amount of income from my voiceover work. My voice is heard in every English speaking country in the world and I'm in the middle of a time of transition toward stepping away from a "day job" of any kind and just concentrating on voiceover work. Karen is out on her own, finished with school, working and with an apartment of her own. Eric has just finished High School and will be working with me for the next year, gaining some real world experience in meeting deadlines and expectations; and at the same time helping me complete this transition to full-time VO. David and Brian have just completed their 6th and 4th grade school years, respectively.
And Cinda and I celebrated 19 years of marriage last month. _________________ Be well,

Cool stories guys!
10 years ago In was working at a corporate recording studio, listening to some of the best VO's in the NYC/NJ area as I was behind the glass. I was building someone else's dream...but that was OK for then. Was married just about 2 years & had just celebrated 1 year in our house with BOTH my parents living with us.
This week:
I've been a full-time VO for just over 3 years & LOVING it!
- Working on producing a 14 voice audio program for a new client (sorry guys, it's 12 "real" people & only 2 pros ) Just finished the 12 real people recordings this morning.
- Voiced 4 IVR/MOH projects for 4 separate clients (in both English & French)
- Voiced audio in French for an outdoor festival happening in Canada
- Waiting for translation approvals on 2 scripts: one 9000 words and another 2000 words so that I can voice them.
Busy, busy, busy...AND LOVING IT!
I AM living my VO dream!
