Yes, actually free. Here's a 7 minute lesson on the skill of "Voice Matching," which is a fancy phase for "Mimicking for Money."
Enjoy, PF

Pat,
Thanks a bunch for this. This was wonderful. Here is another good reason to watch Transformers. The mp3 is going straight to my iPod.
ADR is certainly of interest to me and one of these days I would love to be in a location to be able to work in this area. I'll have to check out the San Fran area and see what is out there in the form of ADR.
Good luck with the ADR event. |

Dear Jon,
Check out these sites for information on the ADR/Looping work in San Francisco. In markets other than NY and LA, the way my students get work is to call facilities, which list having ADR facilities, and ask how they get their performers. Some will tell you they have a group, or will give you the name and number of a "wrangler" - the term for a person who rounds up those with the skills to do ADR. In other words, there's some research to getting the jobs...not daunting, but there. Since there is no clear cut way of auditioning for ADR/Looping, where and who trained you counts.
Regards, Pat

In NY is it a no-no to hit up the post houses? Does your agent have to send you out for this?

It depends on your agent. Some encourage the talent to do look for work possibilities, others don't. I know I would never be with an agent who discouraged me from finding avenues of employment. PF |

Belated thanks for the gift of this lesson. I'll have to do some research to see what's happening in london and this corner of the world for ADR!

This was great. As I have four kids and cartoons are constantly on our tv, I find myself mimmicing voices all the time. I did some ADR in college, but I always thought they brought in the originals to do it. Glad to know mimmicing isn't a wasted "art". |
