Pros will already know this information...but I thought I'd post it for anyone who might be new to voice over. Here are a few tips about studio set up and voice over tricks from Digital Juice...

Thanks Kara, now I can do all of these voiceovers myself rather than hire expensive voice talent. Wink

This actually pretty good stuff, but I had to laugh when he said "Don't drink a milkshake during recording..."

It was fine till he said that following these tips on DIY V/O would keep you from having to "spend money by hiring a professional voice talent." <paraphrase> =-O

I had to listen to the ending again. The actual quote is "Your clients will probably be pleasantly surprised by your results, and happy not to have to shell out any extra cash for voiceover talent." =-O =-O

Man, that is some BS. If you're going to spend money on a nice studio setup, spend some money to pay your talent! And any number of production tricks won't take the place of well-prepared talent. I'm sure this rant is the same rant everyone else has Smile

Kara-

I spend a ton of time on this page. They have everything...I use a lot of it to train my broadcasters, plus I replicate almost everything for my training. Shocked

ANY advice is great advice in my opinion. Absorb what speaks to you and deflect the rest!

Well Kara (and I mean this in the friendliest way possible) the best ever tip to people that are new to the VO bizz... is to make sure they look like you!

No, please don't take this as a cheap pickup-line just because I was born a Dutchman... Just a humble compliment with a big smile from across the Atlantic Wink

I like to think it's her fine skills an an actress that are the key to her success, but maybe that's just silly talk.
