Call them. I did that last year and they gave me another year at the old rate. But I decided to try something new and it is working for me (at this point $90 per year).

I've used WaveApps for 2 years. Price=$0
Also does ACH for payments or bank transfers at 1%.
Blows FreshBooks away in its functionality, too.

For what it's worth....

For the last 20 years, I have been using a little program called "Billing Manager Pro Deluxe" by a small company called M&R Technologies http://www.mrtec.com/index.htm

It's on a very unflattering funky looking website.

My feeling is that it is one guy doing it. (although I could be wrong)

But anytime I've ever had a problem he got right back to me.

It's saved me countless thousands of hours throughout the years.

I my case I had repeat monthly customers that I billed either monthly/quarterly, or yearly. This program did it for me automatically and then you could either snail mail in a #10 clear window envelope or send them by email.

What use to take 3 days at the end of the month I now do in 30 minutes.

Of course it will do "one off" billing . But for REPEAT regular customers, I wouldn't be without it.

Your mileage may vary.

Wondering where everyone is at now, a few years later, in this?

In the early days I was using Harvest, but after switching to Freshbooks I haven't looked back. Makes invoicing a pleasure.

ZoHo Invoicing is now free. I switched from Freshbooks when the rate went up and ZoHo was a lower rate. They went to free. Same service. Love it.

Do any of these NOT charge a fee for transactions or is that pretty common?

Been using Wave for a few months now and liking it untilll....

I got a client looking for a few different estimates on a spot I did for them a little while ago. They needed them by this morning.
Went to wave to start punching out the estimates when I got their:

'we're doing maintenance'

page.

Frustrating because I was able to login and get things started but when I clicked on something, all of the sudden they weren't operational.

Meanwhile, I get an email from the client who's hot to get things going.

The server status shows nothing wrong.

Eventually, I pounded out some estimates on my Quickbooks Pro on my laptop and sent those off, came back to Wave where I was finally able to login and they FINALLY acknowledged a technical issue.

This was just the worst possible time as far as invoicing software malfunctioning goes.

I like Wave but (on top of this snafu) what's always bothered me is they're not very upfront with their 'contact us for support' portion of their company. I had to google 'support from Wave' to even find their helpdesk page and subsequent 'open a ticket' spot.
Ugh.

Wondering, to the Wave users, do they have a lot of downtime with their servers?
Also, Freshbooks, Zoho, etc. is there a lot of technical issues with these guys?

I think in the 3ish years I've been using Wave there was one incident of downtime. That's about it.

Granted, when there's downtime it's always the worst possible time for downtime. It makes an argument for the value of having a desktop application for things rather than relying on an online cloud-based platform. But as far as downtime goes for Wave, it's been very minimal in my own experience.

Good to know, George.
They got it resolved pretty quickly but, yeah, when it's broke...yeesh.
