Hypothetically, if you had been pursuing VO for a bunch of years, making very incremental progress and wanted to take a break indefinitely from it, if you decided to come back without having to start from 0 or 0.5, how realistic would that be? Any experiences doing this? For how long? Why? And what was returning like?

Asking for a friend:)

I’ve never taken a break like that, but I’m thinking the most difficult thing to do on re-entry into the biz is re-establishing one’s contacts and customer base. A solid foundation of clients and leads is crucial for one to make a busy career. I’m low on ideas for sustaining this valuable asset.

That aside, I’d also find ways to keep one’s instrument in good working order. Find opportunities for public speaking, reading books for appreciative audiences, dabble in theater or an occasional scene study class.

I wish your friend success, whatever path they choose.
