Hey gang...

With my workload increasing, I need something to keep track of invoices as well as tracking new and potential customers. What's out there?

Tre, I started using Wave and it's made tracking and payment of invoices significantly better for me. It also connects to your bank accounts and Paypal, if you want it to. I've been using it for a few months now and I really like it. Also has mobile versions for receipts and invoices, so it might be worth a look.

I should add that it's "free" (Wave makes money if your client chooses to pay via credit card via the usual fee).

We've used Nimble and found it quite good.

Hey Tre,

I use Zoho CRM (and Zoho bookkeeping software). I built a CRM design within it specific to voiceover, that tracks things like renewals and conflicts.

I can deploy this template to other VO talent's Zoho account. Hit me up if you'd like to chat further.

Matt! How long have you had this template. I used ZoHo for years and it was so deep that I gave up and am currently using (not really) Insightly.

I'd be interested in the template and reopening my ZoHo account.

I started on Zoho I believe in 2014, so I've been developing/updating the template since then.

Zoho has a bunch of different tiers of subscription, ranging from free, to $30 per month. I am using my template in the Zoho One (Enterprise) level, as it includes a lot of Zoho's other apps that I use in my business. Just give a holler if you want to jump on a call to discuss! matt@downundervoiceovers.com

Wondering if these CRMs are still working for everyone.
Zoho?
Wave?
Insightly?

Tre, what did you end up going with?

I'd love to get a CRM that will notify me about every quarter to hit up a past client.

Using Wave apps for all things invoicing and loving it.

Using Nimble for CRM. It's overkill but it works.

For a free CRM I would use Hubspot. I personally use paid Copper right now though. It integrates with Gmail and automatically populates a lot of information about clients, integrates with my marketing via Zapier (I think a lot of CRMs do that but I do use it). I was going to switch to Hubspot recently and transfered everything over but then decided I prefered the Copper interface and integration so much more that I just decided to stick with it.

Couple observations on CRMs over my tinkering with them in the last couple weeks.
-Apptivo was the way I was gonna go. I liked their feature set and the price was good. I decided to go with it. However, the email functionality wasn't ready to go right away. To me, this should have been 'turnkey' once you do the paid upgrade. I was a little leary when trying to email during the trial period and it wouldn't let you for (trying to remember exact phrasing here) 'reputation purposes' of Apptivo. They said they had to have the 'backend people' set that functionality and it'd be about 12 hours. This was unacceptable to me and made me wonder what else might have to be 'backended.' Bullocks!
I told them I'd like to cancel and get a refund and they fought me on it even though they said I could cancel and refund in a previous chat with them. Ultimately, I'm getting my refund and moving on. Which leads me to.

-Nimble. Has a lot of features (as George allluded to) but their layout and abiltity to email was attractive to me. I like their Prospector browser extension. They're a little pricier but I'm leaning towards them. However.

-Voiceoverview. JUST saw this yesterday and am trying it out and was wondering if anyone has experience with Dani's CRM/voiceover specific business tool? It looks promising but doesn't seem to have the 'follow through with engaging perspective clients' feature that some of the other CRMs have.

I've tried VoiceOverview. Dani will be the first to tell you it's less of a CRM and more of a business metrics tracker built for voiceover, with some CRM features... in a nutshell, it exposes who your top clients are, the types of work you book most, revenue, and other metrics like that.

It has an audition tracker with two modes: simple and less simple. Simple is just how many auditions you did for each type of source (Agent, Production, P2P, etc) and less-simple is you actually enter in further details of the audition.

In terms of CRM, though, it's not a CRM that helps you stay on top of leads, prospects, clients, etc. like sales processes and relationship management calls for.

I have a more unique use case--or perhaps I don't--but... I live in Gmail, even though I use my own custom domain for email. I've found Streak to be great. It's like a spreadsheet on steroids, integrated into Gmail, and transforms Gmail into a CRM. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a screenshot of my setup so you can see it in action as a VO CRM.

Pipeline-driven, Streak offers plenty of ways to track your business and be reminded of when to follow up with people. Super easy to customize and make it your own. I'm building this out in my own system, and someday might do some kind of primer on how it all works, then help people set it up somehow. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
