As you may have noticed (how could you not?) prices are going up everywhere. Union rates are going up.

Are you charging more and how do you break it to clients and how's the reaction, if any.

i just raised the rates on a client & they went ... i know not where.

i'm ok with it.

looooong ago in my radio days i moved to a station in owensboro, ky. they were proud as punch to be "sold out". the first thing i did was raise rates across the board. the result? fewer commercials & more money.

i like to put in a solid 3 to 4 hours a day working. not EVERY day, mind you, but as an average.

This year I asked my long term higher volume but lower rate clients to pay about 20% more. They all obliged. It's good because they almost all pay by PayPal.

I push up my rates 10% or so on existing clients whenever I think I can get away with it, usually on a semi-annual basis. A lot of new work comes with a fixed budget attached so is generally non-negotiable, but for anything quotable I’ve been putting my rates up 10% on what I was quoting last year.
