A project I'm working on right now has a couple of winning band names:

Hepatotoxicity

Neutropenia or when they added a brass section, Thrombocytopenia

European metal (but MELODIC! Only ever melodic - if it cannot be whistled, I do not like it) being something to which I tend to enjoy listening, the names suggested here do not seem all that outlandish to me. The Finns, Swedes, Danes, and Norse have some pretty wild band names. An English name is essentially the rule, and the imagery evoked is often a cross between some hideous blood disease and thundering horses rushing forth, spittle flying, swords spinning round and round.

For the quieter, more pensive frames of mind, though, there's Hammerfall (first two albums only) and Stratovarius.
