I'm taking my Prima LT to a recycler. T'ain't worth trying to sell her. Sigh.

I can't even remember the last time I did an ISDN session. AT&T has been phasing it out for years and the guys I know who still use it in this area are paying $1500 per month for the service. FIFTEEN HUNDRED. That's ridiculous.
I've been using SC for many years and with internet speeds as fast as they are now it's the workhorse that ISDN used to be. Friend of mine who images a few dozen radio/tv stations, offered me his Zephyr box a while back for $100 bucks and said it had been collecting dust for several years. No thanks.
But with so many editors working from home now the good old phone patch has gotten a lot of use. That said, however, my clients , one by one, are LOVING Zoom and Teams link ups for session audio feeds. It frees up their phone lines and they say the clarity of the audio is much better.
One of my regular clients said, after our first Zoom session back when the Covid shutdown started ( I record at my end on PT and simultaneously send the mic audio via Zoom) that she prefers to use Zoom from now on. I felt the same. |

I canceled my ISDN service on September 10th. I canceled my landline service from the same provider the same day. I got an email almost immediately confirming the cancelation of my land line. I didn't get a similar notice about my ISDN. A couple of weeks later, I got the customary emails from Frontier with links to my monthly invoices. The one for my land line showed a credit balance, pro-rated to reflect the cancelation. The bill for my ISDN was the same as always. So I called back on September 30th and the person I spoke to said she could see that I had canceled my service on the 10th but she was unable to access the account in the computer to assure me the transaction had gone through, but she was going to get someone from the IT department to help her out. Yesterday, while accessing my bank account online, I discovered that Frontier collected a full monthly payment for my ISDN on October 20th. Time to waste another hour on the phone with customer service. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Good to hear from Matt and others that ipdtl is still delivering good connection options. I'm just running with the monthly SC standard subscription.
Do any of y'all have paid for the full license rate. I've held off worried that a future update would make it invalid. Thanks! _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

I invested in the buyout SC at $600. I use it often so it makes sense versus the monthly rental, and it certainly beats any ISDN rates.

I got the full SC Standard. It essentially paid for itself the first time I used it. And my most recent bill from Frontier finally reflects the cancellation of my ISDN lines. I am expecting a rebate of last month's bill and a prorated portion of the previous month's to show up in my bank account today or tomorrow. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
