- the guns are separated from the booze by the meat. no drinking until the shooting is over - we have an official range master - all firearms are handled & stored appropriately. we have rules - and the guys that come know the rules. it's a redneck event - but some among the rednecks who come are a preacher, a SWAT team member, a professor of mechanical engineering & a colorectal surgeon --- so i think most of our bases are covered.

Todd,
Spent some time navigating the website. Love the old pictures. Always interesting to see the background of people you've come to know just by communication. Looks like you've got some roots in that farm. Very cool! _________________ Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the Paramedics

I wish I were close enough to attend. It does sound like a lot of fun. And you would never hear me say, "Hey, watch this." _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

If I were going, or some of my Southern neighbors were going what you might hear could sound more like this: "Hey watch, Y'awl ain't gonna believe this!"
I attended my first grand-daughter wedding recently. The entire event, dinners and all, were held at the family property of the groom. And the morning of the wedding my daughter took advantage of the target range on the property to add one more piece to her proficiency list.
Boy, I didn't see that one coming!
And as I was leaving, there was this bottle of something exotic being passed around with a raised eyebrow claim that it came from the personal locker of Mr. Gorbachev.
I expect to hear some interesting family stories for the rest of my life from that group. |

vernon --- sounds like the in-laws are my kind of folk!
rick --- my grandpa bought this piece of land in march of 1940. all but one of his kids was born there. it's 150 acres and i know it like i know my own heart. where it's good - and where it needs some help. my grandpa grew seed corn & popcorn - truck crops like bell peppers, squash & melons - had a small dairy operation - a few head of beef cattle - and a few hogs. all we grow now is hardwoods a little bit of fescue hay for the neighbor's horses. it's really all about preserving the the past and teaching the youngins there was life before facetube. there is no internet and very little cell signal - so - it's pretty much paradise ... at least for me. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis
