Smartphone (sometimes a little too smart) and ipad mini for me. I do a lot of work on them both. Like them very much. If I want total chill, I just turn them off . cool

I'm on a Virgin Mobile plan and it's dead cheap and I like it. I've always had the most basic phones, but this week I went for a big upgrade. With my old phone, I couldn't run any aHobo Tounges thanks to all the bloatware chewing up the minimal memory on it. I don't have any interest in having loads of aHobo Tounges and games and social media on my phone, but I do need to be able to properly read scripts as they come in and shout out a 'Can do!' or 'Just a sec!' as appropriate. Supposedly this current phone is 'smart' but it's anything but. I think I was better off with just texts on my old flip phone!

I've got an idea for using my new phone for voice overs on Vine, (of all places) so that could be fun too!

The new phone shows up tomorrow. Here goes nothing!

Patience, Lance.... Odds are, that new smartphone is as powerful (and as complex) as your current desktop, with a new operating system that's unfamiliar....

Give it time. Once you settle in, you'll be glad you made the jump. Inoccent

Nope nope nope. I could not do without my Windows Phone (I realize I'm an outlyer here), especially for my work. Sometimes I feel I could, but the basic texting (having to hit a button 1-4 times for a letter) would kill me.

Having a smart phone is like having a microwave oven. We got along fine with their predecessors, but now that we've tried the newer versions, they'd be really hard to give up.

A cell phone is a microwave oven for your brain cells. Just sayin'.
Our house has been microwave oven free for 5 years.

my iPhone is a ATT go-phone, prepaid. I just pulled the SIM card from a cheap go-phone and dropped it into my iPhone.

Easy-Peasy. I don't have a data plan, but find enough open WiFi that I really don't need it.

I spend about 240 bucks a year to have the phone and have abandoned the land line to the house.

My microwave oven is in the pantry, I leave the room when I fire it up.

My wife and I bailed out of the ATT cell service that averaged $72/month (no data plan), down to Consumer Cellular at $37.10/month at the AARP/Old Codger rate. It includes 500 minutes, 500 texts, and 50MB data per month. They told us if we stick to email use only, the data plan should be fine. If not, just upgrade in increments to a max of 2GB.

Having the iPhone allows me to leave the house and still respond to business emails and calls as if I were in the studio. Using it as a wi-fi hotspot can be a lifesaver as well.

I consider it an essential part of my set-up.

So, the answer is "no".
