So you have decided on changing your name to meet the growing global market in VO.

Ever thought about a Chinese name? Now you may translate your English name to a Mandarin Chinese name (and see how it is written hear how it is pronounced) here: http://www.mandarintools.com/cgi-bin/chinname.pl

My name translates like this (last name first): Feng Fa Rei or Fung Fa Ray with an English sound.

What's yours?

Is this anything like the dude on late night TV who wants to sell you a history of your surname, complete with coat of arms?

imaginator: I should have been named "Mo Fat", but it was taken. Although I am getting skinnier, down 20 lbs - so far.

Donna: Are they Chinese noodles?

dwpthe3rd: I am from the year of the monkey. Just a little curious but always fun!

Frank, to market yourself in Taiwan, you would need to put a "Xiao" (small) in front of your name. This is considered cute, and cute sells!

My first 2 years here, I really thought everybody's first name was Xiao!

I decided to give myself more to choose from. First 2 are my full first name and married name / Shortened first name and married name

Second 2 are same as above with the first names and my maiden last name:

Mao Fu Rong
Ma Fan Rong

Xie Fa Rong
Shi Fan Rong

Year of the Pig…yikes. I always thought my b-day fell on the year of the Rat (stupid Chinese restaurant placemats!!)

Ji Mao Xie

Another 'Year of the Pig'

Quote:
Intellectually curious, honest and tolerant, those born in the Year of the Pig can be relied upon for their loyalty and often make true friends for life. The Pig can be very naive, however, and may easily fall victim to the unscrupulous who take advantage of their idealistic nature - as Pigs see everyone as loyal and caring as they are.

Although forced to play the fool many times, they will just as likely hold fast to the notion that everyone is at heart decent and admirable. Pig people love to read, are generally thirsty for knowledge, and not readily talkative, but if presented with an opportunity to discuss topics of interest with like-minded individuals Pigs may find themselves talking non-stop for hours!

People born in the Year of the Pig are trusted associates in whatever career they happen to choose and often shine as entertainers, social activists or politicians.
