Thanks for the info Mike...I don't have a Mac but that Hackintosh sure sounds intriguing. I'll have to read some more about it!

Technically you can install Mac's OS on a PC, and make yourself a Hackintosh

i'm actually running a hackintosh right now on a pc with win7 & snow leopard - BUT - it's not really a "hack" anymore. it's all intel - same hardware inside my rack case as is in the shiny aluminum one - my boot menu gives me the option to boot into win7 or snow leopard - i can read & write to the windows hard drive from the mac - but not the other way around. the important part of the set up is:

mb asrock P55 pro rt motherboard
intel core I5 750 2.66G R cpu
pny Geforce GT 240 1gb graphics card

other than that the parts are pretty generic.

for the mac purists this isn't the answer - and support is all on me - BUT i did put together a mac for about $600.

Being a Mac Purest I find installing windows on a Mac sacrilege, but if that's what you want that's what you get.

I'll also open my big mouth and say, being tethered to one computer because of a signal programs is rather silly. Because if you know your way around one audio program then you can certainly learn another like program quit easily. The fuddy duddy notion of "I don't have the time to learn a new program" or "the learning curve is to high" is bunk, and you underestimate your human mind and your abilities.

"Like-programs" do exactly the same thing, the only differences is that thy may have different yet similar name for a functions, and they may keep that function in a different location. And considering that most of us in VO, only use a small portion of the full potential of our DAW, one should be able to fully grasp it's functionality in a matter of days or weeks with regular use.

Amadeus Pro is a Mac program that is very affordable, and for an Adobe Audition addict could be the perfect replacement.

Hey Todd,

Thanks for the link!

I just downloaded it for my MacBook Pro and it looks pretty good. It has some features that AA 3.0 doesn't have. I haven't really tried any of them out yet though.

it's not a "hack" anymore --- just the correct combination of hardware & software --- isn't that what anything really is?

this is how osx sees my PC.

Careful how you do automated updates in OSX when running on PC hardware. Some users have bricked their machines when Apple includes code to prevent running a real OS on PC hardware.

the mobo & processor are EXACTLY the same parts as in a mac pro. there is very little difference anymore between the two. a couple of years ago -- yes. it doesn't seem so any more.
