I auditioned for a series of e-books and made it past the first cut. I missed the second cut. I was told that when the next series comes around I would certainly be considered again. Bad news/good news.
Since this was my first foray into the world of audio books I am hoping I can get a critique of my audition. I am looking for both delivery and technical information.
The target audience is lawyers and law students.
Here is the audition.

Ron,
No disrespect intended here, as you sound great. What I heard was you were reading and not sharing the information with me. Particularly with the so-called educated masses, you need to "connect".
The read was a little rushed as well, but the sound was nice - you have a pleasant voice which would be suited to this type of audio book (not eBook, as the latter is text and graphics with minimal multimedia).
Share the words and the emotion intended with me to make this another arrow in your quiver.
Toodles

Along with what Frank said, I was highly distracted by the computer fan noise buzzing in the background. This is probably not what lost the job for you, but having a noisy audition won't help either. _________________ Jeff

Thanks for your comments.
Frank - No offense taken. If I didn't want to hear what you had to say I wouldn't have posted the request.
Jeff - Unfortunately I have a bit of tinnitus and sometimes it's hard for me to hear some of the technical problems with my recordings. I made some changes in my room which hopefully reduced or eliminated the sound you were hearing.
I recorded the last paragraph of the piece again after making the changes. I did no editing or sweetening of the audio except to normalize it.
I wonder If I could get a few words on the difference if any. I am providing the same part of the script in the two links below.
This is the original.
This was recorded after the changes were made. _________________ Ron Phillips
