I'm recording auditions today... did one, and moved to the next one. Said my slate and noticed a ringing sound.
Which is weird considering I don't wear headphones and was hearing a ringing sound.
Listened back, can hear it in the audio.
Fiddled with knobs and buttons, still heard it.
I've discovered it was my bottle of water. Seriously. It must have been strategically placed, and filled to just the right point, made out of just the right plastic.
Weird. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Hmmm... well, actually, I THOUGHT that was the issue. I do think it was part of it, but I'm still hearing the problem... without headphones on.
Crazy question, but can a pop filter wear out? _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Yes a pop filter can wear out but not likely the problem. Make sure, of course, that it's only in the studio. Not tinitus...ringing in only your ears.
If you have moved any large objects around in your studio lately re place them to where they were.
Check all connections.
Restart computer. This will often solve a lot of issues.
Reinstall drivers for sound input device.
Reinstall recording software
I would bet you don't have to go past restarting....I've had similar things happen like this and a quick restart takes care of them. |

It's nylon... and plastic. The arm is metal.
Thanks for the tips. I will follow them, I've not moved a thing in the studio. I did change a bad cable today, but this ringing was happening (starting today) before I changed the cable.
My ears haven't been ringing otherwise... LOL... unless someone's talking about me. But seriously, I don't think it's my ears. I hear distortion in playback too. It seems that backing off the mic helps. But it's just all weird considering I've not changed or moved anything.
Who knows. I'll restart the computer and see where that takes me.
Thanks!!! _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!
