Deirdre, I can't believe that picture. You rock!

Another bass player here. Here's a pic of me and my beautiful Fender P-bass circa 1981:

I played it through an Ampeg V-6B, with twin 8X10 SVT cabinets. That bass has since been stolen (some of my hair seems to be missing too). I've replaced it with a natural finish Precision, but I find myself playing my black Strat most of the time. I'm also trying to learn drums by playing a Yamaha drum pad while I ride my exercise bike -- "The DrumCycle".

James Jamerson was a genius, and John Entwhistle...well, he made me want to give up the bass and go into radio!

Since you asked...

R&R/Blues Tenor Sax

Not the greatest picture, but it was a barwalk.

Full time video producer, part time, very part time VO, outside work has pretty much been on hiatus, just too busy with personal projects, but soon to be resuscitated.

Blonde, actually; it just looks red in that old picture. As I recall our brand of beer back then was Buckhorn, which went for about five bucks a case.

I can't tell you all how happy I was to see this post....downright giddy in fact! It includes my 2 passions (outside of my family of course): voiceover and music.

I'm not exactly a musician (yet), but I'm learning guitar and drums right now. My husband calls it my musical mid-life crisis....LOL...and has been very patient. He got me my very first drumset this Christmas. I think of the 2 so far, the drums are becoming my favorite. I have always loved the drums, but for some reason, waited until now (at age 33) to learn. Oh well, better late than never!

Keep Rockin'!

Tell you what, Fran--

I always liked drums too. Even thought I was chiefly a keyboard player in the 70's I'd noodle around on the drums whenever I could.

My older kiddo is a guitarist,

and because we have space here (a barn), the bands he was in would rehearse here. The drummers always left their kits set up.

On Halloween Night, 1999 I went to a bar for the first time in about 20 years. It was a party thrown by my radio station, and a classic rock band was playing.

Wow. I had forgotten how much fun it all was.

The next day, I took my boom box out in to barn with some Todd Rundgren and super-spare Steely Dan stuff and picked up sticks. I've not put 'em down since.

Only now I have my own Tama drum kit and too many cymbals.

Jeez....

We've gotta get a jam going here.

With as many bass players as we have..and D on drums we could do one mean version of Spinal Taps "Big Bottom".

Somebody call Nigel and David. 8)
