LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Before the Rolling Stones play at Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show, producers will have six minutes to roll out and assemble a gigantic stage, erect 27 tons of lights and herd a 3,000-person "studio" audience to the center of Detroit's Ford Field.

Those are just a few of the moving parts going into a 12-minute performance that each year ranks as one of the most highly watched moments on live U.S. television.

The instant the Stones' show ends, organizers will have exactly six more minutes to clear the stadium for the kickoff of the second half of the championship NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks.

And WE'RE stressing??

Now if only they could have made a halftime show worth watching.

s'matter, nobody here dig the Stones? I thought they were great! My only complaint was that they were limited to three songs and felt compelled to throw a new one in the middle, rather than another classic hit.

Jagger was workin' it!! HE IS AMAZING!!!

I don't mind the Stones, but they sounded like crap and ABC kept hitting the dump button on them. Either keith or the other guy was way off with his guitar work and the audio seemed really inconsistant to me.

Agreed. Audio quality was a problem. But in my view, Jagger's moves and generally good vocals more than made up for all the technical deficiencies.

Then again, maybe... it was just the beer.

As a bonified, verified, and sanctified Baby Boomer... I could really take off the gloves and defend the Stones, but instead, I think I'll sit back and try to compile a list of how many of the current "pop" culture will be singing 30 to 40 years from now.

I loved the intro to Satisfaction. "Here's one we could've played at Super Bowl 1...good things come to those who wait."

Oh geeze, can't we just give those latter day purveyors of the obnoxious and irritating noises their fifteen minutes of fame and then just forget 'em? Quality seems to be of no consequence these days. Jagger stunk up the place - even so, he is better than most of what passes for talent today.

Strangest version of Satisifaction I've ever heard. The vocals seemd to be buried in the live mix. May there was s reason. I think Mick's vocals were off.

You know, on the Buffalo Bills third trip to the Super Bowl in LA, I went...I figured they HAVE to win this one right? Third time is the...ah, S*** well any way aside from the game the halftime show featured Michael Jackson who...now don't quote me on this cause I don't want to get sued for defamation...but I think he was.....lip synching.

Lord I could hear the collective gasps of suprise from around the globe on THAT revelation but all these many years later I still think I am right Gasp

BUT the tie in with the thread was the stage set up and take down....in six minutes. And they did it. And it was seamless.

But I think he was lip synching....

The audio guys were asleep at the wheel on this one. On one of the guitar solos you could barely hear a note for 7 or 8 seconds until someone turned his pot up. I read that they censored Mick (cut his mic?) three times including a couple of references to somebody's rooster.

But for us oldies but goodies, this Stones turn sure beat the audio of the Beatles at Shea Stadium. I don't believe they released a "live" album of that one. To their defense, I believe the concept of monitor speakers and such wasn't in play then.
