Hello all!

I am about to send out my demo to prospective clients and want to know what you all included in your demo packages. Would you recommend sending a cover letter with the CD just saying hello, who I am, please hire me, etc.? Or, is this a waste of time for the recipient who just wants the CD to listen to? Would you also put in a business card? Anything else to help this newbie?

Thanks much!

I usually write a VERY SHORT cover letter identifying who the hell I am and where they may be hearing me. Then I say here's a CD an there's more on my website, yours et cetera DB.

Something like that.
I usually enclose the letter, the CD, and a business card-- but sometimes, depending on the recip, I send a résumé.

Like Deidre said - Very Short. Get to the point quickly.
Your format will vary slightly depending on who you send it to, but the overall message is: here you are! what do you want? how can they give it to you?

I would put it, "here I am and this is what I can offer to you."

yeah, that'll work too Laugh

Also, don't forget to inject some of your personality into it. The trick is to make it short, but yet let your personality shine through.

I always put a magnetic business card in with any written correspondence. I've actually recieved comments about how handy those cards are. They have been stuck up on filing cabinets, the office fridge, metal doors, etc. A few of those cards have even landed me writing jobs!

I like the fact it keeps my name out in the open for people to see and I LOVE the" money magnetism" thing they do! Wink

Oh, all right, I'll let you in on a little secret Lips Are Sealed . Good old Avery has magnetic business card forms and if you have a half decent printer, you can produce the magnetic cards for yourself. I've done it and it works quite well. Now, I haven't looked for them in a while - but they did have them last year.

Hey Anthony, my magnetic cards are purchased at Staples. (Elaine and I are on the same wavelength. Wink ) They are peel and press! I peel off the protective film and press on my business card. I buy a package of these magnetic backs and fill them up with my cards. This way, I have them in small affordaable batches.

I can't quite swing the "professional magnetic business cards" yet either...not quite enough change in the coffee can. Sticking out Tongue
