I can't remember where I read or saw this, but a couple/few weeks ago, I read/saw an interview with the Twitter folks, and they said that they do have a plan for actually making money, and they've just not rolled it out yet. I'm unsure if their plan encompasses fee to those who use Twitter, or subjecting users to advertisements (like Google, and even Facebook).
