No more, no less. It's cheap. it will do the job until you can afford a Neumann U87. Why not a slightly more expensive mic? Because at the $100 to $300 end of the market the only real difference between a $100 mic and a $300 mic is $200.

But what if this mic doesn't work for my voice? To be honest the B1 isn't the problem UR, remove the latter and it'll sound fine.

Or, just find the microphone which works for you and is within your budget.

Why do I have the U-87 or the C-12's? Because I can. But I also ahe a dynamic Behringer which cost around $20.00 and works well in many cases.

As Phillip said; the biggest problem with microphone choice is the "UR".

Gee Frank, wonder where you found out about the $20 mic?

I bought a set of two of those Behringer mics online for $14.95 each. They are dynamics which don't sound bad for the price and reject off axis sound and room noise much more than a condensor.

My favorite is still my used AKG C-3000 (black body) condesor I bought on eBay for $65 form a musican who only used it several times. The newer, lesser C-3000-b (light color metal) that goes for about $300 and doesn't sound as good as the original. (I think Connie T. has a C-3000 too.) Don't overlook used gear when starting out. I have two MXL V-69 tube mics I seldom use. My room isn't treated that well yet and the tube mics really pick up unwanted room noise.

Phillip, UR is also seen from another perspective by the perceptive as EYE-IZ (UV sunglasses will not prevent injury to the psyche).

If I had it do over again and didn't have a booth or well-treated room, it would be an Electro Voice RE 20.

I picked one up recently and got re-acquainted (used it in radio for several years).

For the $$$ (it can be had for under $400) IMO it delivers a lot of bang for the buck, but does need a strong pre with plenty of gain.

I use a Rode NT-1A that I got free with the purchase of my mic pre-amp. My customers like how I sound with it, so I have no reason to change.... and..... you can't beat the price! Look for deals like that in the future when you are looking to get a new piece of equipment or upgrade.
