Of late I've been experiencing an oddity with my mixer. It's a Soundcraft Notepad with four mic inputs. When I fire it up first thing in the morning, modulation suddenly drops. It's happening on all four inputs. I'm coming out of my voice processor with a cable using XLR out and a 1/4 jack in the mixer. What I wind up doing is simply pulling the quarter inch jack out of the mixer and reinserting it, and everything's back to normal.

I'm not quite sure what the overall issue is. The mixer's pushing six years old, and has been a great tool. It's traveled many miles over the road and through airport security. So, it's showing some wear. The pre's are very clean and quiet for the price. I can go direct from the voice processor to my sound card, but I like not having to monkey with it as it's taken some time to find the sweet spot on the processor.

Before I went out and bought a new mixer, I thought I'd put this one in front of the experts here.

Drew,

When you say modulation drops on all four INPUTS... does that mean that you've tested whether the master output remains te same? If you have not, I would probably check the power supply for it could sound like a power issue...

Edo, after I posted my topic, I little light came on in the back of my swampy head that this could be a power supply issue. Once everything's warmed up, the issue seems to resolve itself across all channels.

Thanks.
