I recently had to send some .wav files to a client via gmail.

When I looked at gmail's instructions regarding large attachments it mentions that 'transport encodings' are automatically added. I don't know what they are.

Can 'transport encodings' affect the audio at all?

No! They'll just make the file very slightly bigger. Think of it as the bubble-wrap, sticky tape and address label on a package that you're about to hand over to Fed Ex.

Another reason though to consider using a free FTP service like YouSendIt.com. You never have to worry about size (up to a point) and as far as I know the files aren't modified or wrapped in paper.

Thanks!

I have in the past used, and tried in this case, to use yousendit. For some reason my client couldn't access the site so I went the email route...nothing over 10mb, but it still took forever.
