I checked the archives... couldn't find anything about this website. Looked interesting. If this is old news... please excuse the mention.
Will technologies future hold any threats to the human Voice Actor?

People have been playing with Text2Speech for over a decade now...it HAS gotten better (not that this is a great example of it) but at this point it's not quite there yet....as to the future? Who knows, but I'm not really worried....yet! Wink

Many kinks to work out. It (she) thinks the word "off" is "of F".

And you'll never guess what I was trying to get her to say using the word off.

Score to date for salable voice work:

VO's: 28,532
Machines that talk: 0

...and she doesn't say WTF with quite the same nuance as say, Tom C in Risky Business. Yeah...I couldn't resist a brief sojourn into sophomoric immaturity.

Personally, I could care less about text-to-speech.

Speech-to-text....now THAT would be worth a million bucks to any person who's ever had to wade through an interview...transcribing the words for incorporating into, say.... a story on TV....YEAH, that's it!

I know Dragon Naturally Speaking comes close....and the program is getting better and better... but can't imagine it ever replacing a human when it comes to interpreting some of the drivel that passes for the spoken word in this ever slanged-up-chica world!
