Hi!

I just wanted to ask you:

If I have a project for 20 minutes of finished audio, how do I apply the following chart to correctly calculate the payment?

Per minute of finished audio delivered: US Dollars
Average
Up to 2 minutes: 100
Up to 5 minutes: 85
Up to 10 minutes: 70
Up to 20 minutes: 55
Up to 60 minutes: 40
Each additional minute
over 60 minutes: 25

1. Do I take $55 and multiply it by 20 OR

2. Do I charge for the first 2 minutes of this project 100, then next 3 min - 85 and so on?

It just kicked me~ and I figured, maybe that's how it should be done...

Can't wait to hear from you all Smile

THANKS

Hi!

Where did the chart come from?
I think it means "per minute." So 2 minutes would be $200 ($100 per minute x2). 20 minutes would be $1100 ($55 per minute x 20).

Smile

the chart came from voice123, i think.

So if a project is over 60 minutes, say 90 minutes, I charge $40 that covers 60 minutes, then the remainer at $25?

Or all of it is charged at $25?

Were I you, I'd charge per-finished-minute, consistently throughout, with a higher rate applied if you're finishing the minute (editing, sweetening, posting). This can range from $40 per finished minute to $100+

I wouldn't necessarily lower the rate because the project is long. In fact, that might make it more challenging.

If a project is 90 minutes:

"Up to 60 minutes: 40" means $40.00 per minute for each minute up to 60.
"Over 60 minutes: 25" means $25.00 per minute for each minute over 60.

So, I believe, according to this chart, that 90 minutes would come to $2400 + $750.

But I agree with Diane. I'm not crazy about this chart.

wow. well of course I could do that, but who is going to pay $6000.00 for 60 minutes?

To me it sounds non relistic. The rates that I offer, most people ask for a special or just tell me that rates are too high. Frown Unfortunately, that's what it is.

Balky--

You could charge an hourly narration/studio rate that would be inclusive of your voice talent, studio time, editing, etc. Depends on what the client wants from you. Or, perhaps it's worth $40 a finished minute x 60 (=$2400) which is NOT unreasonable if you edit quickly (and that is what the client wants) . That rate is completely on the mark (low end) if you do it at a studio where someone else is editing.
