Happy Hanukkah to you as well! Andrea made the annual bach of her awesome potato-and-onion latkes. I don't even want to know how many WW points each one was worth.
I'm just glad I happened to give her the grater attachment for her KitchenAid mixer a couple years ago. _________________ Greg Littlefield

How Lucky are we that we have lights so we can see
Although the day is done
What a miracle that a spark lifts these candles out of the dark
Every evening, one by one
Until the end of hanukkah, of hanukkah. With the jingle bells and the toys
And the TV shows and noise
It's easy to forget
At the end of the day
Our whole family will say
These words for Hanukkah
Baruch atah Adonai, eloheinu melech ha'olam, asher kid'shanu
B'mitz'votav v'tzivanu l'hadlik ner shel Hanukkah.
Light the candles for Hanukkah, for Hanukkah
We remember how Maccabees
Fought so all of us could be free
And so we celebrate on this festival of the lights
There's a joyful time every night
But we illuminate the candles of Hanukkah, of Hanukkah
Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha'olam she'asa niseem
La'avoteinu bayamim haheim baz'man hazeh.
Hanukkah...
Hanukkah... _________________ "the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best" |

Warmest and brightest regards to our friends lighting the way tonight!
It reminds me of a project I did some years ago where we had to produce a little something about holiday celebrations. We wanted to be all-inclusive and make sure that we got the Chanukah story correct. Since I wasn't raised in that faith, I asked around campus and got several different answers from some of the profs, and from the InterFaith office. Each one gave their version of how it should go and then ended by saying, "But to be sure, you'd better talk to a rabbi." So, I wrote a note to a rabbi friend of mine in Toronto asking about the order in which one lit the menorah candles. .
He wrote back and said, "What kind of menorah?" (in response to my comment that we were showing an image of a menorah)
I thought there was only one kind (this was pre-Web days so I didn't have the instant access to mother lodes of info that we do now) so I wrote back to him and said, "How many kinds are there?"
This led to a lengthy and interesting conversation (via email) about menorah design and the lighting of the menorah.
He ended up sending me a lengthy set of lengthy menorah-lighting instructions (complete with prayers), and it all ended with the sentence, "This is what I do. If you ask seven different rabbis, you're gonna get seven slightly different answers that will be variations on the same theme. But I do appreciate your asking -- it's not often people ask us BEFORE they go off and produce something about the Chanuka Menorah."
I learned a lot! _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420

The recipe for very yummy broccoli latkes (for Liz):
1. Go to Whole Foods and purchase a box of Dr. Praeger's Broccoli pancakes from the frozen foods section.
2. Follow heating instructions from the back of the box.
3. Serve.
(I'm going to my mom's in a few days and we'll have her traditional homemade latkes. Yum!) _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.
