do you mean cooling system, like an air conditioner or evaporative (a.k.a. swamp) cooler?

or, like, faberge, and she told 2 friends, and they told 2 friends, and so on and so on and so on.

mine's the big honkin' swamper on the roof, which i turn off when recording (and then proceed to sweat big time!)

or maybe it's something altogether diff?

I think Deebs be talkin' 'bout a filter for things like AC hum and similar scum. Haven't yet noticed anything like that in what little I've done so far, so I haven't taken any steps to address it.

Am I on the right track, DB?

Bumble and Bumble. Rockin' stuff too... my hair's never been healthier.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I rarely get to post in the Gear Forum.

APC Symmetra LX.

Overkill for VO, but I do more than that here.

Chuh! I guess so. especially with a $9K+ pricetag.

Power conditioner/line conditioner.

Keeps the tiny spikes out of your power. Not just a surge protector.
You hear when a switch is tripped somewhere in your house— like when the furnace comes on. You'll see an actual jolt in the wave form. A line/power conditioner is made to smoothe that kinda thing OUT.

They seem to be a necessary element of a home theater system as well.

Like I said, I do more than just VO here. Rolls Eyes

Furman and Monster (yes I said Monster) actually make some good conditioners that are somewhat sane in their pricing.

You can also find some reasonable pricing from APC on their lower end stuff. The Symetrix series is not what I would consider to be one of them, but power conditioning is just one of it's abilities.

This is what I want:

This what I'd settle for:
http://www.psaudio.com/products/duet_power_center.asp

But I'm using the APC 1200 in the meantime.

Furman PL-8. I've probably had it about 10 years now. 8 power sources, and two cute little lights that I never turn on (but the light thingys that pull out are great for hanging your headsets on).

Since I'm bored out of my mind before we head back into the booth here, I decided to peek around the studio where I'm at.

Furman.

A quick chat with some folks hanging out with me here (who have home studios).

2 Furman, 1 Monster.

I have a Monster in the upstairs lab of my house (opposed to the downstairs IT/Recording labs).

I just added a Furman M8 to my config a couple of months back for $36.00 from BSW. The current model M8X currently lists for $59.95.

http://www.bswusa.com/proditem.asp?item=M8X

So far the M8 has worked pretty good for my uses.

Well this is timely. I set up my own space in our new home this weekend and noticed the clicks and such. Thanks for the suggestions! Smile

I've always used APC stuff. I'm using the APC Back-UPS LS 500 as shown HERE which is a battery backup and line conditioner.

I recommend going to APC's refurbished site HERE as you can get a very good deal on their equipment and in most cases the refurbishing is just a battery replacement and minor EC's to the electronics.

Thanks to pals here and the famous GearSlutz forum, I've read that the UPS gives you conditioned power already.
That's pretty spiffy.

I've used the Monster Pro 2500 for a couple of years and haven't had a problem with it. If I remember right it was $199.
