Hey all,

Looks like all the marketing is starting to apy off....in a different way. I just got a call for an audition for a TV commercial to be aired statewide. Wish me luck.

Anyone have any advice...I have done very, very, little(re:none) TV work in front of a camera.

Just be professional... and realize that you are a professional. Everyone that is behind the camera... the lights... the sound engineer... they are all doing what they do best. That's your cue to do your best. Have fun!

Also, have confidence in the fact that you were asked to audition. Be yourself.

Look at the camera, keep your hand movements to a minimum, and remember to blink.

That's pretty much it.

Good luck!

Bud...

Look to your signature quote for guidance...

The fact that you're in there is a huge accomplishment, now just be yourself and listen to everything being thrown at you.

It shouldn't be any different than being in front of the the mic, except of course for the fact that if the director is driving you insane, there isn't a piece of glass to keep you from wringing his/her neck!

When I'm nervous or unsure of what the right thing to is during a session... I really try to keep my mouth shut, ask the necessary questions and have confidence in the fact that I know what I'm doing!

Knock 'em dead... you're good and that's why you're there!

Cheers,

Thanks everybody...the hard part is done. Went quicker than I thought. Got it right after 4 takes. Worst case scenario....I learned something, had fun, and made a new agency contact.

Congrats on the audition. I hope you'll let us know if you get the gig.

For future reference and to concur with others, if you're addressing the audience, look into that lens or the teleprompter screen like it's your friend. Give them the happy news (or the serious advice) with their welfare in mind. If you're talking to someone else or playing a role be sure to look at them (often the casting agent) and not the lens.

Now it's tough if they gave you the copy 5 minutes before you go in for the audition...don't worry, memorize what you can, then keep the script as high as you can without getting it in camera...this way your face is at least half-way pointing up to camera level, not pointing at your waist when you refer to the script...and try and deliver at least a couple of important lines directly into camera or to the person you're reading with. Don't worry if you get a few words wrong. They're looking for you ability to be sincere, or to be committed to the character you're playing. They know you'll have it memorized correctly when you come to the shoot.
