Just wondering if anybody else has this minor, yet annoying, issue with their USB interface. It's a Lexicon Lambda (which is one of the several $150 range interfaces), and it installed and is working fine, but much of the time when the PC is fired up, the device isn't recognized. So I have to disconnect the usb cable from the back and then re-connect....then all is well. Is this a common thing w/the usb interfaces, or am I just one of the lucky ones?
BTW, for anybody shopping around, the Lambda is just "okay." I was expecting more of a noticeable difference from feeding my processor/pre directly into my stock PC sound card (which in hindsight actually sounds pretty darn decent.) I'd say the Lambda gives the audio a bit "stronger" and fuller sound, but not blow you away better. I simply use it as a pass through to the PC through the Line jack. It's supposed to have "high end" analog>digital converters (and vice versa), but honestly how great can they be for $150? |

Chuck,
Do you have the Lambda plugged into one of the PC's USB ports on the back or the front? Or are you, by any chance, using a USB hub to connect? I've seen what you're talking about in the past when I was trying to go in through a USB hub. Since plugging directly to one of the back USB ports I've not had the problem. _________________ Be well,

Hey Bob,
Funny enough, I DO have it plugged into one of my ports in the FRONT of the PC....only because it was nice and open, w/out other usb cables plugged in around it. I'll have to try one of the available back ports and see if that makes a diff! Thanks. |

Chuck,
Quite often your computer will treat the ports in the front as if they are coming through a hub. If you have an available port in the back, give that a try and see if it makes a difference. _________________ Be well,

I'm confused by your last part. You say you use it as a passthrough to the line jack. Does that mean you're going from your USB interface into your soundcard? _________________ Jeff

Jeffrey--
I probably worded it weirdly. I was trying to say that I don't use the Lexicon as a Pre-amp, but only to serve as something to receive the audio from the Line out jack of my separate Processor/Pre. I'm glad I wasn't counting on the Lexicon to actually serve as the preamp as well, because I tried one of my mics plugged directly into it, just to see what it sounded like, and well.....it wasn't good. |
