i've just received a request for a short recorded phone prompt with a very very very tight deadline and a decent fee. contact came through one of the free listings i'm on.

tried to look up the outfit before i did the work and sent it, but am not finding any such address/domain.

i don't want to snub a new client, but am a little nervous about this one.

anyone ever hear of it "TheDigitalHeadquarters.com"?

I got that one last week as well. Shot back an email regarding useage and my email didn't indicate how the VO would be used.

Never got a response. Never found a site connected with that url either.

Rowell,

I got this one, took the bait and sent them a file.

Did you ever hear back from them? I haven't gotten a response on the emails I sent them. It's starting to smell like a rip-off.

I also recieved the same request. After trying to find more info on the sender I came accross an old press release from 1986 listing one of the names on the email. I don't know if it is the same Victor.

I also doubt it is digital-hq.com.
I am sure they are using someones voice and don't plan on paying.

Hmmm. As the lads from Liverpool sang, I should have known better.

If it's a new client, then just request a deposit upfront or at least record a very small portion of their script OR send them an mp3 of an appropriate demo.

If you're coming to me for the first time, I'm not just sending you an audition of your entire script (been there done that... got burned... no more). "Thanks for your interest in my voice-over service. As a first-time client, I'll need your contact telephone number, mailing address... blah, blah, blah."
The internet has made it all too easy for people to hide. I don't do business with people I can't at least speak to. Sorry. That's worked for me now for at least one year.

It's business - I'm tired of us walking around trying not to upset everyone. We provide a much valued service and the final product will only be sampled, not produced on "consignment" if you will.

thanks, voicefolk.

i do have the feeling i've made my donation to the impoverished account executives program. it'll be my last.

never did find anything satisfactory. the site bailey provided has the same moniker, but doesn't seem to be the same outfit. and i never did find anything satisfactory on the names with a google search.

chalk it up to a slow afternoon starring at the pile of bills, i guess. no more mr. helpful voicetalent for me.

I did get a inquiry from a company called "affordable Audio" and a guy named JC.

He was really enthusiastic up until I asked him for his website address so I could learn more about his company.

I never heard from him again.

Anthony, I agree with you about being sick and tired of tip-toeing around.

I'm much more on-the-ball about getting information now than I used to be.
