Thought other voice actors would be more interested in this since you actually get to voice your emails on your phone. I am trying this out on my phone....it basically lets you speak your emails and then it sends your recipient an email with a small mp3! It is too cool....and save typing long replies on a phone. I have full keyboard on my phone...but this too cool.

Check it out at VoiceGenesis.net or .com

If you already have unlimited web access on your phone...it was like a $5 monthly add for my Verizon account (per line). It was on the Get It Now email programs thing and was recommended to me. Talk about instant auditions....and security of nobody using your read for their project without paying...LOL. It is phone quality sounding...but it sounds very clear none-the-less. I'm sure it would work if you were in a real pinch and needed someone to hear your take on a read and you were on the road and had no recording rig near by.

You can also receive and send regular email with this too if you don't have email on your phone or have Hobo LaughingA. Snazzy!

Good find, Ben.

There's a similar service offered by Sprint-Nextel on their Nextel branded phones. It's called NextMail. You can set up email addresses in your contact list on your phone and use the push-to-talk feature to send audio emails. You just push the button, talk, and release the button when finished -- mp3 attachment sent to whatever email address you want.

Cost per month is similar - $5/mo, I think. But it does require a Nextel phone.

Not sure I'd trust my phone's microphone for an audition. Smile But for a quick-and-dirty solution, applications like these are great!

Looks similar to a feature I have on my (older) Motorola V360 cellphone, called Voice Notes. I use it occasionally if I'm on the road and want to remind myself to do something. I record it to the phone, then email it to my home email. Otherwise I don't think I'd even send anyone else a voice email. However, I never thought of the immediate audition aspect, so that's a possibility

Don, this is a regular email service for your phone where you can send and receive normal emails...however, this also allows you to click "speak reply" to a message or just "speak an email" to someone to avoid all the typing.

I have a full keyboard that flips out on my EnV2...but this is probably geared toward those that don't have full QWERTY keyboards and want email without all the typing. So instead of typing, you just record a message or reply and it sends the actual mp3 file of your voice to the person's email.

Jott looks cool as well, Dave. Different that this...but cool.

What, you don't have a Samsung Instinct, Ben? ha ha ha. Guess the spot on my demo wasn't convincing enough. Smile

You know, I might actually get an Instinct in a few months.

Caryn:

I'm new around here, so maybe I missed this on its first go-round. Did you snag a gig doing promo work for the Instinct? (Bit of a cellphone dork here, so I was just curious)

Ha! Yeah.....I have....one of those....too.....or somethin'.

I really wanted an iPhone...but so many of the people I talk with (family and many of my pals...not all) have Verizon. So their "in" calling saves my rear from lots of overage. Otherwise I would be with AT&T and have the iPhone since I am a Mac user.

But saying all that, I needed something that I could actually not worry about damaging. I am tough on my phone at times. I would have a touch screen all jacked up in no time I bet....by crashing it into something accidentally.

LOL... I WISH I got the Instinct gig. I've heard a couple on TV, but they've been guys. The reason I was joshin' about it is b/c I have an Instinct spot on my commercial demo (which Ben produced).

I use Sprint - they carry the Instinct. I hear ya Ben... I have a flip phone now, and I love it. I am concerned that if I don't have a phone with the screen/buttons covered when not in use, I'll screw it up.

We'll see what I decide to get. It's gonna be a couple/few months.
