OK, just installed a Creative Labs soundcard. No sound, but when I disconnect the amp from the card I get a sudden buzz.

Whasup with that?

There are TWO mixers you might need to be concerned with: One is the Creative Labs mixer, and number Two is the Windows Recording mixer (found under Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control.

Make sure all of the right pots are slid UP and not muted... and you should be on your way to sound bliss.

Also check whether it's properly installed in the PCI-slot. Sometimes plugging in a soundcard makes it SEEM tightened, but it could still not be in the slot thouroughly. If it's not all the way down, you might lose your common ground connection, thus making it not function. You can also damage your motherboard this way if you accidently short ciruit something.

Which card did you get and have you checked for software and firmware updates?

What OS are you running?
