Hi there - does anyone use Outlook Express? I need to talk my mom through emptying her Deleted Items Folder. (She suddenly realized that deleting them from the In Box didn't actually delete them and she has about 2000 emails in there.)

I need to see a typical screen that shows the In Box and Deleted Items Folders - and if the process is different than in regular Outlook (right click on the deleted items folder - then select empty deleted items folder) . If I know what she is looking at, I can walk her through it.

I've gotten pretty good at talking her through things, but this time I was in the car...

Thanks!

To permanently delete files, you must select the files, then use Control + Delete.

Good luck Connie,

It's the same, Connie.

And I should know. I have badges:

I've got one that none of y'all can beat:

A blue badge that says "MICROSOFT EMPLOYEE"

Then again, I guess most people here would view the term "employee" as anything but positive!

Jeff,
No, employee is good. Better might be "Charter Stockholder Member".

I'll see your certifications and Blue Badge and raise you a Pumpkin (Contractor) Badge. But in the spirit of full disclosure the Blue hasn't gotten me in a MS building for about 3 years and the Pumpkin is 8 years out of date.

But I still have grants. Let's get that stock price up Mr. Kafer.

Well, if we are comparing badges, I have a map reader badge from the Scouts and an Instructors Certificate that says I can hit people in Chinese.

Any good? Smile

yep, they're about as useful to VO as all the other badges that have been bandied about in this thread.

OK - any of you big certified men brave enough to talk to my mom? Wait - don't say anything you might regret!

Elaine sent me a screen shot and I forwarded it to my mom and then we started stepping through her screen - after a few minutes we agreed that in the best interest of our relationship that she was going to call her computer tech support people in the morning.

So you are all off the hook! But now I know who to call!
