I had to call Didgidesign today. My 002 Rack was losing its firewire connection about minute after I would begin to record, then would come back online a minute to 10 minutes later. The shop guy said it sounds like the power suply ins't staying constant.

Have you ever had this or heard of this happening?

Looks like I have to ship it out for repair and I don't know how long it will take. Any advice on what I should do in the meantime? |

Yup. It's most likely the power supply to your firewire drive, NOT your 002. I have the same problem now for 6 months

The power switch on the drive is sometimes cheap, and won't give a hard enough click, so after a while the contacts start to wear and you lose power for an instant - in which case, you lose your connection.

Anthony, what your saying is that it's my computer, not my 002, right? |

Are you using an outboard FW Drive? _________________ DBCooperVO.com

				| Outboard - meaning a seperate piece of hardware? The connection I have is in the back of my computer. (First time hearing the term, sorry.) |

I think I may have misunderstood. I was under the impression that you're using an external (outboard) firewire Hard Drive as your audio drive. But I forgot that the 002 connects to your computer via Firewire - is that what you're referring to?

In any case, many times a loss of firewire connection DOES indeed mean loss of power if even for an instant.

Sorry for the confusion.
