Stupid, stupid me.
My worst, most slow-to- nearly no-pay production company client was sticken from my list at the end of last year.
Then, my fave producer from the company wrote and asked if I could voice a spot. I told him it would have to be same-day Pay pal since their track record was so bad, but he asked for one last chance before we resorted to that.
I did the job on March 13th.
My note to them today:
Quote: | What's the billing cycle like for you folks?
I am laboring under the apparent misapprehension that invoices are paid within 30 days of receipt.
I don't wish to be perplexed over something I'm clearly misunderstanding, so I hope you might be able to let me know what your modus operandi is.

I hate having to waste my time like this. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Shoulda followed your gut, I suppose. Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice... <insert Todd Ellis/Maggipinto innuendo here>
In theory, you have the phone number of said producer. Why not give him a ring? _________________ Jeff

Sometimes one must "fire" certain high-maintenance customers, which include those who play the $$$ games. _________________ Bobbin Beam

How frustrating! Chasing money is so incredibly aggravating . . . you wonder if these people ever feel ashamed of making the talent chase after them relentlessly just to get what they rightfully owe them in the first place.
My worst case was actually a graphic design job. I just got my $1250 check last week for a job that I completed ONE YEAR ago. And this after they nickel & dimed me out of the rate we'd initially agreed upon (eventually I just agreed to their terms in hopes of at least coming away with something--it still took months & months after that for me to finally receive the check). I will obviously never deal with them again.
Unfortunately some clients like to put the "free" in freelance. |

Ray, that is terrible! At least you got paid, though. It could have been worse. As you mentioned, you now know never to deal with them again. |
